Renaissance and Baroque Rome

Walk in the heart of Baroque and monumental Rome.
2 - Bernini and Borromini compared.
This walk will lead us to compare the two souls of Roman Baroque: on the one hand, the multifaceted genius of Gian Lorenzo Bernini (of whom we can admire the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, the Triton Fountain, and the church of Sant'Andrea al Quirinale), on the other, the imaginative flair of Francesco Borromini, which is marvelously expressed in the church of San Carlino alle Quattro Fontane.
 
Appropriate clothing is recommended: no shorts and tank top.
3 - Caravaggio in Rome.
On this walk, we'll admire the masterpieces Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio created in the churches of Santa Maria del Popolo, Sant'Agostino, and San Luigi dei Francesi. Above all, we'll delve into the neighborhood where he lived and worked.We'll see the house where he lived, the tavern and barbershop he frequented, the workshops of the great artists who began his career, and the palaces of the cardinals for whom he worked.

4 - The Churches of the Counter-Reformation.
The visit to the church of the HOLY NAME OF JESUS, to that of SANT'ANDREA DELLA VALLE and to the church of SANTA MARIA IN VALLICELLA, will offer us the opportunity to discover the characteristics of the religious architecture of the Counter-Reformation and the perspective illusions of Baroque painting, the work of artists such as Rubens, Pietro da Cortona, Lanfranco and Guido Reni.
